Compliance status
The website has been assessed against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Any content uploaded prior to 31/01/2025 may be non-accessible, schools are exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations, but Castle Donington will endeavour to meet the requirements going forward from this date.
Content found within the news & events section.
Uploaded letters to parents in the Parents section.
Videos published prior to 31/01/2025 will not contain transcriptions.
Content such as posters created by Third Party Organisations.
Some information in the curriculum section may be non-accessible to screen readers.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
We plan to add text alternatives for all images going forward from 31/01/2025. When we publish new content, we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
Some videos do not contain transcripts. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.2.
We plan to add transcripts for all new uploaded videos and audio fails to meet the standards.
Disproportionate burden
There is no content that we are required to modify to meet the standards.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Live video
We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We are dedicated to publishing accessible content in all areas of the website and will continue to investigate any potential areas that we can improve accessibility.
